Building Airtasker’s brand - our new partnership with Nine
Today we announced a strategic partnership with Nine that will help accelerate Airtasker’s brand growth in Australia.
Through the partnership, Airtasker will access one of Australia’s most powerful media ecosystems across television, streaming, publishing and digital with $5.0 million in media capital over the next two years.
But for investors, this partnership is about something much bigger than advertising.
It’s about building Australia’s most recognisable marketplace for local services - in the most capital-efficient way possible.
Why brand matters for marketplaces
Marketplaces become incredibly powerful when they become the default place people think of when they need something done.
For Airtasker, that means being the first platform Australians think of when they need help assembling furniture, moving house, cleaning, gardening or fixing something around the home.
That’s why we’ve been deliberately investing in the Airtasker brand over the past few years.
And we’re starting to see the results.
In the first half of FY26, Airtasker’s brand salience increased 32.1% year-on-year.
More importantly, that awareness is translating into real marketplace activity.
In 1H26, our above-the-line brand marketing delivered around $4.85 in gross marketplace volume (GMV) for every $1.00 invested, representing incremental direct ROI of 1.08x.
This is the Airtasker growth flywheel:
Brand awareness → marketplace activity → stronger network → more growth.
Expanding our media partnership strategy
The partnership with Nine builds on Airtasker’s existing Australian media partnerships with oOh!media and ARN.
Together, these partnerships allow us to reach Australians across outdoor, audio, television, streaming and digital environments.
Nine’s network includes some of the country’s most watched programming, including Nine News, 60 Minutes and Today, as well as major entertainment hits such as Married at First Sight, The Block and LEGO Masters Australia.
The network also broadcasts some of the country’s biggest live sporting moments, including the State of Origin series, the NRL Grand Final and the Australian Open.
This gives Airtasker the ability to put our brand in front of millions of Australians in high-impact cultural moments.
Strong momentum in the Australian marketplace
Australia continues to deliver strong growth for Airtasker.
In 1H26:
Australian marketplace GMV reached a record $103.5 million, up 6.4% year-on-year
Airtasker Australia revenue grew 12.9% to $23.1 million and our monetisation rate improved to 22.3%
We remain on track to deliver double-digit revenue growth in Australia for FY26.
Brand investment continues to be one of the most important drivers of that growth.
The future of work is local
There is also a much bigger shift happening.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global workforce. While AI can automate many digital tasks, it cannot perform physical work in the real world.
Someone still needs to assemble the furniture, fix the leaking tap, clean the house and move the couch.
As AI changes the nature of traditional office-based work, we believe more people will look for flexible, local and skills-based income opportunities.
That’s exactly what Airtasker enables.
Our mission is to empower people to realise the full value of their skills, and building a powerful consumer brand ensures that when Australians need help - or want to earn income - Airtasker is the first place they go.
A capital-efficient way to grow
The structure of this partnership reflects our focus on capital efficiency.
In exchange for the media inventory, Airtasker has issued a $5.0 million convertible note with a 4.9% coupon and maturity in July 2028.
At maturity, Airtasker can convert the note into shares (subject to shareholder approval) or repay it in cash.
This structure allows us to unlock premium media inventory today while preserving financial flexibility.
Looking ahead
We’re incredibly excited about what this partnership means for the next phase of Airtasker’s growth.
By combining Airtasker’s marketplace with Nine's scale and audience reach, we can continue strengthening our brand and growing our marketplace.
And ultimately, build the default platform Australians use when they need something done.
